About Me

I work as a writer, translator, and interpreter, primarily between Russian and English, as well as from Polish, French, and Dutch into English. My background combines formal study with many years of professional experience working with language in real-world settings.

I studied Russian Language and Literature at Oberlin College, graduating with High Honors, and later continued my language studies in Russian at St. Petersburg State University and in Polish at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.

Résumé (PDF, one page)

Over the years, I’ve translated and interpreted for institutions including MoMA, the Bolshoi and Kirov Ballets, major orchestras, cultural delegations, and international events such as the 1980 Winter Olympics.

I approach language as practical work: listening closely to what is being said, understanding the context and tone in which it is expressed, and translating into clear English that conveys the intended meaning.
